Minors Baseball - General Overview

Minors baseball is a league where players are taught pitching mechanics,  fielding, hitting, and base running skills.

As pitching is introduced at this level, players receive three strikes or four balls. If a pitcher records four balls in a single batter, a coach will pitch until the ball is put in play or the batter strikes out.

Defensive outs are enforced and teams switch after 3 outs or after 5 runs are scored.

The games at this level are generally 5-6 innings long and take about an hour and a half to complete.

Dugout Captain helps our coaches get going with practice plans, game rules, and we encourage creativity and energy to keep it moving and fun.

By the end of the season kids should understand all the general baseball rules in regards to hitting, fielding and base running as well as more nuanced strategy and basic play such as defensive cutoffs. Leading off is not allowed although stealing is permitted on past balls.
